The Obiter Subtext Review

The Obiter Subtext Review (TOSR) is inviting original submissions from law students, researchers, academics, practitioners, policy professionals and subject-matter experts for publication on its independent legal platform. At TOSR, we believe legal writing should go beyond explaining what the law says. We are interested in asking what changed, who benefits, what the consequences are and, most importantly, so what? We welcome analytical pieces on case deconstructions, legislative and policy developments, institutional and regulatory questions, rights and governance, dissenting or rejected arguments and emerging areas of law. We particularly encourage submissions that connect legal developments with their practical, institutional, economic, social or policy consequences. Submissions should be 1,200–1,800 words, with extended analysis of up to 2,500 words considered at editorial discretion. Contributions should include a 100–150 word abstract, follow the latest edition of the Bluebook (where hyperlinks are not applicable) and be original and unpublished. Co-authorship is limited to two authors. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis and are subject to editorial review.
